Sustainable Oxford (formerly a chapter of the Gaining Ground Sustainability Institute of Mississippi) is an Oxford-Lafayette centered community organization that serves to educate and advocate for sustainability needs of this area.

Our events are family friendly, free, and open to the public. Our aim is to engage with area residents concerning how issues relating to social justice, transportation, localizing the economy, alternative energy, our food system, and more affect their lives.

At present, our main programming is our speaker series and potlucks. These regular monthly meetings engage members of the Oxford-Lafayette-University community on issues ranging from community composting, recycling, sustainable development and growth, individual health care, local food access, renewable energy alternatives and much, much more. The dates and subjects for the next forums are as follows:
October 3rd 2016 :: Composting Workshop with Brooke Fly
November 7th 2016 :: Weatherizing Your Home
December 5th 2016 :: Faith and Sustainability
January 9th 2017 :: Social Justice
